Carla Joseph is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). She practices a comprehensive focus to care, including brief psychotherapy as well as prescribing mental health medications if needed, for all ages. Also, she is knowledgeable overall in prescribing medications, especially with prescribing controlled substances such as benzodiazepines or stimulants.

Initially, she obtained her Bachelor’s in Science of Nursing degree from Holy Family University. She then went on to start her mental health career working as a psychiatric registered nurse for thirteen years in one of the largest correctional systems in the United States. Eventually, she then went on to complete her Masters in Science of Nursing degree for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner of lifespan across the board from Walden University. In addition, prior to her becoming a nurse practitioner, she worked in a variety of healthcare settings as a registered nurse including Adult and Pediatric Oncology, Surgery, and Infection Control Preventative.

Her training experiences were in large metropolitan areas that has ignited a passion in her to provide access to affordable and quality mental health care services. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, she will offer a wide range of mental health treatment from complex PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety, and ADHD. In her free time, she is at home reading an enjoyable book, working on a DIY project, at a movie theater watching a new release, exercising, traveling, or most of all spending time with family and friends. 

“My style of therapy is primarily, client-centered and collaborative. I strongly believe in the importance of providing clients with psychiatric care in the way that they feel most comfortable as well as they taking an active role in their own individualized psychiatric treatment. I use a diverse approach and I have experience in providing services to individuals whose diagnosed with ADHD, anxiety, depression/mood disorders, low self-esteem, and PTSD.”
